Health Education England are pleased to announce new, fully funded, NHS clinical examination skills training for community pharmacists.
This new offer will build on community pharmacists’ existing clinical examination and consultation skills – to assess, treat and manage common health problems.
10,000 module places will be available until March 2024.
Sign up now for Clinical examination skills training, which will be delivered by CliniSkills.
About the training: Following completion of a pre-required, online gateway module on history taking and identification of serious conditions, pharmacists can choose their preferred journey through four optional modules, based on professional interests. These modules cover four key themes: dermatology, cardiology, paediatrics, and ear, nose and throat.
The module content will be delivered online using a flexible and responsive eLearning system, with optional face-to-face attendance for pharmacists who would find this beneficial. Pharmacists can complete the training at a pace and time of their choice. Face-to-face workshops will be scheduled to accommodate pharmacist working patterns.
The training is designed to be complementary to independent prescribing training and can be completed prior to or after independent prescribing training courses.
Who is eligible: This offer is available to community pharmacists, including part time staff and locums working in community pharmacy.

SUPPORT TO COMPLETE FORMS…
CPLSC has also gained support from Lead Pharmacy Technicians at the School of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation
Catherine and Jane are available to support those community pharmacies who wish to submit a bid for a trainee pharmacy technician in terms of writing their bids, answering any questions they may have about the bid process, the designated supervisor or anything around the two-year training of the technician. The candidate can already be a member of the pharmacy team.
They can be contacted by email – catherine.forber@nhs.net or jane.astley@nhs.net.
Following the recent webinars to employers, NHS England Workforce, Training and Education (WT&E) directorate are offering funding to support the training of pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians (PTPTs) on a multi-sector training programme or in a community pharmacy placement.

PT Workforce Expansion Guidance 2023 FINAL
PT Workforce Expansion Webinar Cohort 5 2023-24v1
£46,099 will be available per PTPT over the 2-year apprenticeship training period. This funding is intended to contribute to the cost of developing and running a two-year programme and may be used to contribute towards the cost of salary, educational supervision, or establishing educational infrastructure.
Funding will be available to support the training of PTPTs through various models:
· MULTI SECTOR bids (e.g. 2 or more organisations forming a partnership where the trainee/s will rotate)
· COMMUNITY PHARMACY bids (e.g. individual community pharmacy employers)
Application Process
Application for funding is through an EOI submitted via an online application form. Only applications submitted via the online form will be considered. The application window for the Northwest region is 7th August 2023 to 17th September 2023.
An application template has been provided in the employer guidance and it is advised this is completed (with partners for cross-sectors bids) and saved so information can be copied and pasted into the online form. This copy can then be referred to if the evaluation panel seeks clarification during evaluation of bids.
Applications must be received via the online form by 17th September 2023. Successful applicants will be informed w/c 2nd October 2023
