CPPE decided in March 2020 to postpone all face to face events. They are now offering workshops online via the zoom platform. The online workshops offer the same range of activities, group discussion, small group learning & networking as the face to face workshops but in the comfort of your own space.
CPPE have programmes available including, Controlled drugs in Chronic pain: supporting patients with safe and effective use e-learning and Pharmacy technicians: enhancing your professional practice e-course. Some of the programmes have been developed for other sectors but may still be of interest.

Self- directed personal development for current service related topics: Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician programme: From 1st August limited funded places will be available for the CPPE Accuracy checking pharmacy technician (ACPT) programme. This 3-12 month training and development programme offers a blended approach to learning that includes resources for self-directed study, e-learning and practice-based activities. Following comprehensive assessment, you will be able to use this learning to support optimisation of skills in the dispensary. Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician Programme:
- Develop the skills required to be a safe confident and competent final accuracy checking pharmacy technician
- Improve leadership and communication skills
- Direct the dispensary team
- Increase the pharmacy teams capacity to deliver patient facing services.
Leading for Change programme: The Autumn cohorts for the CPPE Leading for change programme are now OPEN for applications. This 6 month leadership programme is open to all registered pharmacy professionals who are in patient facing roles and/or who provide NHS services in England who have responsibility for leading a team or leading services within their organisation. This includes pharmacists, pharmacy technicians working in community pharmacy, armed forces, health and justice as well as those in primary and secondary care. Each of the four modules is supported by a compulsory half-day online interactive workshop, online discussion forums (with compulsory contribution elements) and optional networking Zoom Room sessions to enable you to put your learning into practice and to allow you to network with fellow course participants. You will be supported by a CPPE tutor and your workplace mentor and at the end of the programme you are required to submit an assignment to demonstrate how you have used your leadership skills over the course of the six months. Preparing to train as an independent prescriber: This new programme is open to pharmacists from all sectors of practice, including community pharmacists who are planning to commence their independent prescriber training with a Higher Education Institute (HEI). This is a fully funded course that helps pharmacists develop the skills and confidence to get ready and best prepare for independent prescriber training. Pharmacy Technicians: Using patient group directions in practice e-learning programme The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) are pleased to announce the launch of the Pharmacy technicians: using patient group directions in practice e-learning programme. Medicines legislation has been amended to add pharmacy technicians to the list of registered healthcare professionals able to work under a patient group direction (PGD). Accordingly, CPPE’s new 1.5 hour e-learning programme is designed to help pharmacy technicians consider the value they can bring when using PGDs to enhance person-centred care. CPPE’s self-assessment framework has been released. The main purpose of this document is to support you (the pharmacy professional) to reflect on your knowledge, skills and behaviours as required to provide all the elements of the NHS Pharmacy First service, to identify any gaps and to support you in taking action to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours if necessary. Newly Qualified Pharmacist programme
Are you or do you work with a newly qualified pharmacist? This year CPPE is continuing to support newly qualified pharmacists this includes pharmacists working in community pharmacy. For newly qualified community pharmacist’s working in an independent pharmacy or a multiple without their own early years training programme or as a locum, CPPE in conjunction with HEE have created the Newly qualified pharmacists programme. The CPPE programme is a fully-funded, twelve-month programme for newly qualified pharmacists who completed pre-registration training in the 2020/21 cohort. The overall aim of the Newly qualified pharmacist programme is to support pharmacists to develop, and demonstrate, confidence and competence in core areas of community pharmacy practice. The programme is designed to support newly qualified pharmacists to become better equipped to adapt and deliver safe and effective patient care at this pivotal stage of their career. The programme takes a blended learning approach and offers a comprehensive mix of online learning activities, workshops, assessment and work-based support. Each pharmacist will be allocated a designated CPPE education supervisor, who will review their progress in practice and provide feedback and support. The programme introduces newly qualified pharmacists to the fundamentals of being a successful and competent pharmacist through a series of online learning modules, self-reflection, assessments, and education supervisor support. The Newly qualified pharmacist programme supports pharmacists to become better equipped to deliver safe and effective patient care, and provides comprehensive learning to support their springboard towards Independent Prescribing (IP) training. Community Pharmacy Technician Advancing Your Role -CPPE
This new NHS England fully funded training programme will help pharmacy technicians develop the skills and confidence to deliver effective clinical services in community pharmacy. This is to ensure that they have the right post-registration training to enable confident, safe working practices and career development.
Launching in September, up to 840 pharmacy technicians will be able to apply for the training.
